Mythos Q&A, April 12, 2024

These are selected questions and answers from the Ask Me Anything (AMA) that Zach from Mythos Pedals does every Friday on Instagram. The questions and answers have been edited slightly to adapt them to text format and provide context. Any errors or misunderstandings are our fault. With that said, enjoy this wealth of information from Zach at Mythos!

How to make my Les Paul sound brighter?

The tone capacitor has no influence on the sound unless you are using the tone pot.

If you like the sound of your pickup but want to make it brighter, you have to change out the volume pot. Use something above 500k and that will add a lot more treble to your guitar sound.

Amps that pair best with the Eric Clapton mid boost circuit

Eric played Fender style amps. Something tweed or deluxe reverb style are worth trying.

Zach’s tips on becoming a better story teller

If you are unsure about what you want to say, write an outline.

The second thing is to rehearse, rehearse, rehearse. It takes a lot of practice and it’s not a natural skill for most people.

Tricks to add more clean headroom to your sound

Turn the amp Master all the way up. Turn the input gain all the way down. Bring the input gain up to the volume you need. This will maximize the headroom of your sound.

Pedals won’t change the headroom of your amp. Pedals can add some compression to give the illusion of more headroom.

If your amp isn’t providing the clean headroom that you need, it’s time for a new amp.

There were a lot of questions about personal life, ghostbusters and pickups that we didn’t transcribe this week. Check out our collection of Mythos Pedals to see what Pedally has in stock. Contact us if you would like to get an update on any missing pedals from the Mythos lineup.
