DUNLOP PEDALS & ACCESSORIES

History of Dunlop Manufacturing

Dunlop Manufacturing is a company that specializes in the production of musical accessories and effects pedals for guitarists and other musicians. The company was founded by Jim Dunlop, a Scottish engineer who emigrated to the United States in the 1960s.

Jim Dunlop began his career in the music industry as a touring technician for rock bands like The Who and Jimi Hendrix. He developed a reputation for his ability to repair and modify guitar effects pedals, which were becoming increasingly popular among guitarists in the 1960s.

In 1965, Dunlop founded his own company, Dunlop Manufacturing, with the goal of producing his own line of guitar effects pedals. The company’s first product was the Cry Baby wah-wah pedal, which quickly became a popular choice among guitarists.

Over the years, Dunlop Manufacturing has continued to innovate and expand its product line. The company has developed a wide range of guitar effects pedals, including distortion, overdrive, chorus, and delay pedals, among others. They have also produced a variety of guitar picks, strings, and other accessories.

In addition to its own product line, Dunlop Manufacturing has acquired a number of other companies over the years, including MXR and Way Huge Electronics.

Today, the company is based in Benicia, California, and continues to be a leading manufacturer of musical accessories and effects pedals.
